Mark Waters directs Freaky Friday, the Disney-financed remake of author Mary Rodgers’ 1972 children’s book of the same name. Both unsatisfied with the monotony of their daily lives, a mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her teen daughter (Lindsay Lohan) mysteriously trade bodies overnight. Anna (Lohan), who also starred in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, realizes that the freedom of adult life, particularly when it involves being a wife and mother, are not as easy as she had imagined. Along the same vein, the trials and tribulations of high school are much harder than Tess (Curtis) had remembered. The day can’t end fast enough for the pair, who can’t wait to wake up inside their proper bodies and return the lives that weren’t nearly as terrible as they had imagined. The first adaptation of Freaky Friday was financed by Disney as well, and starred Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster.
